The initial stages of diagnosis of diabetic mastopathy usually include mammography and ultrasound. Then, to check if the breast lumps are malignant, your doctor may conduct a core biopsy in which a small cylinder of tissue will be removed from your breast without any surgery. It will help confirm diabetic mastopathy.
How To Treat Diabetic Mastopathy?
Typically, doctors do not advise treatment for diabetic mastopathy as it is harmless. However, people with diabetic mastopathy should continue to self examine the breast to detect any changes in the size and number of breast lumps. They should also routinely follow up with MRI or ultrasound and core biopsy. It will help to detect if lesions have become clinically or radiologically suspicious. If the malignancy of these breast lesions cannot be avoided, the doctors will remove them surgically.
